Just another voice post in which I discuss my trip to the grocery store, the start of spring training and what I’ve been watching on TV as of late.
This voice post was recorded as I was preparing to watch ‘Homer at the Bat’ which is one of my favorite episodes of ‘The Simpsons’. I talk about the episode, screw up an exchange between Burns and Smithers and then transition into talking about baseball in general.
I discuss why baseball losses involving my favorite team bother me more than losses in football, basketball or hockey.
The discussion then leads me back to a discussion of ‘The Principal and the Pauper’ which is one of my least favorite episodes of ‘The Simpsons’.
I conclude with a brief comment on the value I get out of recording these voice posts. Then I stammer my way through a Valentine’s Day comment before calling it a day.
Yesterday, I expressed my desire on Facebook that everyone have fun regardless of whether or not they would be watching the Super Bowl. I then pointed out that I would not be watching the game and was asked why.
It was that question, in combination with reading a post on a blog that I follow that got me thinking about my relationship to sports. For better or worse, this post is an overview of my history with sports and how I consume them.
