Podcast Plus: Tribute to Melissa

This week’s episode of Talking Audiobooks is now available. This one is a tribute dedicated to the memory of my friend Melissa.

Oh yeah, click here for your chance to win an Amazon Echo Dot to celebrate the end of our second season. I got an Echo Dot from producer Ken a few weeks ago and I am already addicted to it. I like playing Jeopardy
and other games on it since it is audio based it is accessible. I have even gotten Alexa to tell ‘Yo Mamma’ jokes which is a fantastic development.

Okay, so let’s get to the podcast plus portion of things by talking about this week’s show.

I thought this episode would be a tough one to record since I would be talking about my friend the whole time. But it actually proved to be easier than I expected. Once I got going and the stories started flowing I ended up having a bit of fun with it. All of the book excerpts I play on this week’s show are ones that Melissa herself recommended to me during the time that we knew one another. So it was cool that I could tie it all together in that way.
Other than that, I don’t have much else to say. I still miss her quite a bit and always will.

In other news, I found out that our last episode, the one where we celebrated being Thankful for Audiobooks was our most downloaded episode to date. This absolutely thrilled me for a couple of reasons. The first is that the episode required a lot of hard work to put together and so it was nice to learn that it had been worth it.
The second reason is that I really did want this one to be a success and a cornerstone that we could build on going forward. The fact that this episode was not only popular but received a lot of positive feedback is great news considering the plan is to bring it back year after year.

The cho dot giveaway is meant to celebrate the end of our second season. The third season will begin in January and I think it will be pretty big and that we’ll have some new features that listeners can look forward to accessing. However, I have enjoyed my Thanksgiving week break and am looking forward to an extended Holiday break in a few weeks before coming back for the new season in the middle of January.
