I’ve been working on getting things ready to take over as the host of the Talking Audiobooks podcast (see my previous post if you don’t know what I’m talking about). Most of what I have been doing has been related to social media but I’ve also spent a lot of time thinking about what exactly I want to do on the show.
One question that I am still debating is how best to talk about sales that companies such as Audible have from time to time. This is an interesting question because unlike other things I might want to discuss on the show, these are more time sensative. A sale may last a few days and so it wouldn’t be helpful to anyone if I did an audio segment talking about a sale but it wasn’t published until the sale was over.
I have some ideas on how to handle this problem but I’m still trying certain things. I guess we’ll cross that bridge when we get there. For now though, and more than likely as things continue, I am still going to write about sales on this blog. Which finally brings me to the point of today’s post. Audible.com is having a 2 for 1 sale for members.
The sale runs from now until May 22 at 11:59 PM PT. I have to say that this is a pretty big sale, there is a lot of books spanning a number of different genres. If you want to start looking around at all of the different titles available, click here.
If you are an audible member but currently find yourself without a credit, you can purchase a credit when you check out. The cost of the credit will depend on the type of audible membership plan that you have. If you subscribe to the 1 credit for $14.95 monthly plan, one credit will cost you $14.95. If you subscribe to the two credits a month for $22.95 plan, then an extra credit will cost you $11.47. And so on up to the $229.50 yearly plan that I have in which an extra credit is going to cost $9.56.
There are a number of books in this sale that I already own, particularly in the nonfiction category. ‘The Girls of Atomic City’, ‘Ghost in the Wires’, ‘Orange is the New Black’ and ‘Future Crimes’ are just a few that can be found in my audible library. On the mystery front both ‘The Gray Man’ by Mark Greeney and ‘Orphan X’ by Greg Herwitz are not only books that I own but ones that I have read this year and enjoy quite a bit. One of my favorite reads from a few years ago ‘The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry’ and a couple of John Scalzi titles ‘Redshirts’ and ‘Lock In’ are also a part of this sale. All of these are titles that I not only own but have read and recommend. There are others that I own but haven’t read yet.
I can say that there are a few titles that I will probably end up getting before the sale is over. I’ll either discuss them in a different post or add the list to the bottom of this one. If you are an audible member, I’d love to hear about what you purchase or plan to purchase as well as some of the titles that you already own. Happy shopping and happy listening.
