I wanted to make you all aware of some free audiobooks that you can download if you so desire.
The first is from the folks over at Tantor Audio. They are currently offering More Favorite Stories of Christmas Past as a free download. The book contains stories by: Louisa May Alcott, Hans Christian Andersen, Charles Dickens, Lucy Maud Montgomery and Henry Van Dyke. It is narrated by Joyce Bean and Simon Prebble. The book is completely free as a download, all you need is a free account at Tantor.com for the purposes of accessing your audiobook library.
Over at ChristianAudio.com they are offering the book ‘You and Me Forever: Marriage in Light of Eternity’ as their free download of the month. The book is written by Francis and Lisa Chan and is narrated by the authors. It is available as a free download through December 31, 2016. While the download is free, you will need a user account to access the library and you will need to subscribe to their email newsletter to obtain each monthly free download.
Currently on Audible, the most popular pre-order is a free download of a title called Goodnight Smartphone written and narrated by Arianna Huffington. This title will be released on January 17, 2017. It is free for people who have an active Audible.com membership as well as for those who are not currently audible members. The book summary is as follows:
Exclusively written for Audible, only available in audio
Sleep is central to every part of our lives, and a good night’s sleep begins by putting aside the day’s worries. But in today’s technology-saturated world, saying goodnight to the day is harder than ever. Allow author Arianna Huffington (Thrive, The Sleep Revolution) to guide you to a peaceful night’s slumber as she performs Goodnight Smartphone: a classic tale reborn for the modern age, when the hardest thing to say goodnight to is not the moon, but our phones, our email, our social media, our always-on digital selves.
During a visit to Audible to speak about the benefits of sleep, Arianna joked about what a wonderful book Goodnight Moon is and asked why there isn’t a version for adults: “Goodnight cares of the day, goodnight worries about tomorrow, goodnight laptop!” she exclaimed. Soon after, Goodnight Smartphone was born. Listen as Arianna adapts one of the most notable bedtime stories for the modern age, and learn more about her daily sleep regimen in her introduction. Exclusively written for Audible, only available in audio. Free until April 16, 2017.
Inspired by the classic children’s story, this audiobook is a playful and relaxing guide to help you transition from the worries of a stressful day to a good night’s sleep, and you can only hear it on Audible.

Unlike ‘Goodnight Smartphone’ this final free download is exclusively for those who have currently active audible memberships. The Most Wonderful Tales of the Year: Holiday Memories Written and Performed by Our Favorite Narrators is a holiday gift from Audible to its members. It is written and performed by the likes of: Jonathan Davis, Kate Reading, Michael Kramer and more. This is the description of the title:
Here at Audible, we know just how much of an impact a voice can have on a story – taking simple words and filling them with elation, wonderment, tragedy, or pure satisfaction. We rely on our narrators every day to bring our favorite stories and characters to life – to introduce us to new authors and genres, or even to a new (perhaps longer) commute. And though our narrators are the best story tellers in the business, it’s usually someone else’s that they’re telling.
This holiday season, as our gift to you, we asked 19 beloved performers to share their own personal holiday memories. With each story – some that will make you laugh, some that deal with loss, many that are filled with love and revelation – we, the listeners, get to know the person behind the voice with which we’ve grown so familiar.
We had a lot of fun putting this together, and we wholeheartedly thank our narrators for so generously sharing their voices and helping to brighten our holiday season.
From all of us here at Audible – happy holidays and happy listening!

Whether you take advantage of any, all or none of these offers, I hope yo at least found this post to be informative. So much of the interview I conducted for Talking Audiobooks deals with getting audiobooks at a discounted price or for free. That’s one reason I try to pass these offers along to people whenever I can. A free download is always a good reason for someone who has never tried audiobooks in the first place to dive in without the fear of wasting money.
