Reading and Motivation

My reading progress in the month of February has been steady. I’ve finished two books already, I’m going to finish a third before the end of the 4th of February and I already have my next read picked out.

I’m participating in the 2016 Goodreads Reading Challenge and have committed to reading 180 books this year. This is up from the 150 books I read last year.

I only finished 9 books in January as I hit a bit of a reading wall. My January reading statistics are below.

January 2016 Reading Statistics
Reads Minutes Pages Avg. Rating
9 4637 2851 7.89/10

This is less than the 15 books I need to average each month to hit 180. I think I can get back on track this month if I pace myself properly. I’ve considered revising my goal back down to 150 books like last year but I am kind of being motivated by the challenge. Motivation for me is never consistent unfortunately. What motivates me to read today might not work tomorrow. The same is true for anything else, I wish I had more consistent motivators but such is the current state of my life.

I still need to start writing book reviews again soon but I am really out of practice. There’s no external pressure for me to write reviews and I’m still having a problem with ambition. I’m enjoying doing the voice posts, however. I may try to devote some of them to reviewing books, much like I did with today’s review of ‘The Muppets’. I still haven’t been able to decide. So many things I could do, I don’t know what to do.

  1. Decisions, decisions πŸ˜‰ But these sound like rather fun ones, with a variety of possibilities! πŸ™‚
That’s quite a challenge – reading 180 books in a year. I think it’s one I might decide to take up, when my daughter is more grown up and less in need of my time πŸ˜‰

    • That’s part of what troubles me. If I have a hard time making the fun decisions, what will happen when it comes time to make the important ones when they come? Those who know me well and have for years would say that I sometimes tend to take longer than might be necessary to make decisions. πŸ˜€

It is a lofty goal, it is a book every other day. Some people I know set their goal for 200 books. I’m glad I didn’t go quite that far.

Thanks for your comment, if you hadn’t left one I wouldn’t have noticed the errors in my HTML table, which have now been fixed…at least the ones I know how to fix. πŸ™‚

So see, you have been helpful today!
