  1. I always find that a movie is so lacking in comparison to a book – but I suppose that has to do with the length, and the fact that in a book we can use our imaginations 😉
    I haven’t seen this movie, and neither have I read the book. I may just consider doing so sometime in the near future 🙂 Thanks for sharing about it!
    The last part of this post made me think of ‘Cast Away’, with Tom Hanks 🙂

    • You know, it occurred to me that I didn’t really describe the plot of the film.

      It isn’t unlike Castaway in that a character is part of a mission to Mars and when the crew is forced to evacuate the planet an accident happens and they believe him to be dead so leave him behind…but he’s not dead and is thus the only living person on the whole planet. Nasa eventually figures out he’s alive and the focus becomes how to mount a rescue mission. So that’s probably why it seems similar. 🙂

      Yes, I very rarely prefer the movie to the book and in fact, I’m not sure it has ever been the case that I’ve enjoyed the movie more.
